Whether you are experienced or new to roleplay fighting and how it works these guidelines will help to explain to you our expectations and rules. Reading this will help new members understand what they can and cannot do but also prevent unnecessary warnings for those that are more experienced seeing as every roleplay site has slightly different rules with their own fighting systems.
Alternate turns Every fight is alternate turns. You cannot post again until the character you are fighting has responded.
Time limits Mare Challenges, Foal Challenges and all normal fights give three days in order to reply to the challenge or during the fight. All of these fights are also five posts each and at the end a member of the staff team will judge.
Herd/Rookery and Band challenges give five days in order to reply to the fight and these battles are ten posts each. They are also judged by a member of the staff team.
Fights on the chatroom, aim or in any other board other then the stone circle do not have a limit on the number of posts until the end of a fight. Usually a fight will continue until a winner is obvious. Judges will be chosen to monitor the fight.
No Godmoding Godmoding or GM is declaring damage onto someone else's character. It is up to the other player to decide whether or not the attack hit and if it did what damage was inflicted. A major GM might be saying you grabbed someone by the throat. A Minor GM might be saying someone else's blood started to spill on the floor. Every attack you make must include the words 'tries' or 'attempts'.
No Powerplay Powerplay or PP is doing something that is not realistic at that present time. For example a cub or an elder is going to be severely disadvantaged in a fight against a healthy adult. If your character is wounded or was carrying injuries before the fight these must be played out. PP also includes things such as excessive dodging or doing something not possible like running away while a lion already has hold of your character's leg. Be realistic.
Dodging A character cannot dodge every single attack. Be realistic, think about how the fight would play out in real life. Everyone can dodge a few attacks, but if we see you dodging them all, you will loose the battle. Everyone is entitled to one full dodge per fight, other then that you need to be taking damage.
Failure to respond to an attack If you reply but do not respond to an attack that was made on you then the other character may automatically assume it went to plan since they have given you sufficient time to respond and defend your character.
Resets If your character is doing something either in attack or defense what they are doing will not be continued if you do not state they are continuing this action in your next post. Every turn your actions are reset to avoid confusion. Eg: If you would like your character to arch it's neck throughout the duration of the entire fight you must say their neck is arched every post. Eg2: If your character is trying to rear up and paw at the others eyes they will not be doing this for more then one turn unless you state this is continued in the next post. This rule is especially important for a character's defense. If you forget to say your character is doing something then they are not doing it.
Judges word is final The judge will be a neutral member of the staff team who is not involved in the fight. They will judge the fight once both players involved have finished their five or ten posts each. Factors such as GM, PP, realism, creativity and damage taken will be taken into account.
Death You are not allowed to kill a character without the other players permission. You can however break bones, dislocate limbs and maim other lions without permission. Just remember that the other player must announce the damage taken to their own character.
Counters Counterattacks are not considered full dodges as long as the move is realistic and you have addressed every attack aimed at your character. You cannot counter every attack thrown at you but doing something to turn someone else's attack into one of your own is allowed providing it is not a complete ignore, PP or GM.

ChallengingAnyone is allowed to challenge anyone else for whatever reason. Challenges can be for ranks, leadership, mates or territory. The challenger will post in the lands they wish to take with their challenge and those wishing to defend the claim have a time limit to respond.
Herd, Band or Rookery Challenge: 5 days Mare Challenge: 3 days Foal Challenge: 3 days Other Challenge: 3 days Normal Fight: 3 days
A full month must pass before a Leader is allowed to be challenged again for the same thing (2 weeks real time).
To challenge for a territory you must have a minimum of 100 posts.

Wars and RaidsDuring a raid or war the fighting rules above still apply. However there is no limit to the number of posts, the fight will continue until a clear winner is decided completely IC or due to a default win for not replying in the allocated time provided.
During a battle where several characters are involved if an attack is directed towards you, you have the usual three days to reply. Failure to reply in the three days will remove your character from the battle. You can chose to say your character ran away or was knocked unconscious depending on the circumstance (Staff will approve this). Either way you will no longer be able to take part in the raid thread. Once a character is knocked out of the battle the characters that were attacking may now switch to a new target and make their attacks upon someone else.
More then one character can attack another, the character being attacked must reply to each attack made on them otherwise the attack will be deemed as having been ignored giving the other player an auto-hit.
During a raid there is no posting order as such. As long as those involved with the fighting of one another remain alternate turns. You cannot post again until the player you attacked has replied unless it has been over three days and they have been knocked out or have ran off (usually a member of the staff team judging will make a declaration or note of this).
If you have any questions about any of these rules do not hesitate to message a member of the staff team. Bare in mind all raid threads will have several judges and will be watched closely by all the staff team to keep things fair and in order.
